So, you want to go to university.

Okay, you've made the decision.

You want to go out on your own into the big wide world. Live your life. Get rid of your meddling parent's disapproving gaze.

You've looked at your courses, found your ideal uni, explored the various accommodation options, checked out the night life, posted on various uni forums, gone to all the open days you can afford, filled out your student finance, read humorous articles about what to do on your first day and what to bring, worked your ass off to get enough money to support you're binge during freshers week (Or weeks in some cases.), bought enough kitchen supplies to feed an army - most of which will either magically disappear or you'll never use.- and everything is fine and dandy, rose-tinted glasses and all that jazz.

Well wait. Stop. Think. Breathe.

University is a big step. No a huge one. A ginormous one. As big as a mountain. As big as the moon. As big as the earth, as big as Jupiter... Enough of the planet metaphors, you get the gist.

Not to scare you but this is serious. It's YOUR life and rather than getting carried away with the expectations that others have created for you, you really need to THINK about what YOU want.

I always believed that I would go to university and I did.

I also hate it.

Don't get me wrong there are things I love like my friends!

But there is ALOT (probably the majority of the 'Uni' experience tbf) that I hate.

I did it all the above with an excited anticipation of finally flying the nest.

Obviously my expectations weren't met for a variety of reasons some I may discuss...others I will probably not. This isn't me saying you won't be having all those fantastical and amazing adventure's your imagination has conjured up.
No, it simply means I think everyone should just stop, take a second and breathe.

Make a brew or whatever your culture is stereotyped to do to calm your nerves and think.

Is Uni really for you?

Don't regret your desion or do what I did and stay to a point where everyone looks down on you for even considering leaving at this point... What the point I'm over half way finished and it's a waste of money.

That dosne't mean I can't help others not make the same mistakes I did. Don't just assume that the 'done thing' is your 'done thing'.

Don't let anyone else influence your decision.
Don't just do a course your parents want you to do.
Don't just go to a university your friend is going to.

Think about you.

I'll leave it at that... for now.
